I just would like to let you know about my buying on E-Bay. I was bidding on a gold ring when I received an email from ebay letting me know that there had been a bid retraction. I log into ebay & the item i was bidding on, then checked the bidding history & what i saw i didn't like, a shiller with 15 bid retractions. The buyer that did the retraction is a shill bidder for the seller. I reported it to ebay, nothing done. What is disturbing is the fact that ebay has allowed innocent buyers to be conned by this seller, including myself. I continued to report, gave item numbers & the shill bidder, finally the seller was naru-ed last week, but came back selling with another ID which is the 4th one, & came the shiller as well. This seller has only been selling for a few months, but from day one has used a shill bidder in all items sold, infact this shiller now has 27 bid retractions with this seller as i write. Again i contacted ebay Sunday night asking why is this seller selling again after being naru-ed. I gave item numbers of sellers items & new ID name for them to check, & also the shill bidders ID & again, reminded them about shiller raising the price, then pulling out before item ends which was & is happening in each ID. I received a reply from ebay stating action will be taken, sadly this seller is still selling used jewellery on ebay, even though i told ebay this proves that ebay is not a safe place to shop when sellers can have many ID's get naru-ed, comes back, & sells & still continues to shill. I can give names if needed. Thanks RG.

This is an issue raised by this site and many others. It is ongoing and in all appearances, it suggests that eBay are well aware of it and either choose to do nothing, or do not know how to deal with it appropriately.

Yes if there is no proof findable of wrong doing, names will be removed.
Site is offshore so no libel problems.

Hi RG, as pumpkin says, we remove names where there is no proof. So feel free to provide all and any info you have. :)

Feel free to name both the seller and the suspected shill bidder. As previously stated, names will be edited out should there be no proof, and retractions posted. Posts that are advisory/precautionary are more than welcome.

HI All at BSD, In reply here are the ID's that's been used that I know of. The very first ID when registering I didn't take note of, but seller only joined about May 09, then it was this ID,, bee5309,, then, evanah09,, this is where ebay had sent me an email stating there had been a bid retraction, & this is where I started looking into past bids & sold items & it was these two bidders that had been bumping the prices up ,, g***1 & 2***2 , my item number was 320420343866, & at that time , g***1 had 18 bid retractions & 2***2 had 10 retractions. After giving that many item numbers to ebay's report shill bidding , ebay then narued evanah09 , but by then the bid retractions had risen from 18 to 27 retractions by g***1. Then came this other ID ,, bee-02 ,, which is the latest, & in some of the items sold on this ID along comes the shiller g***1 bumping the price up again. This bidder got caught as a winner a couple of times, but items were relisted again. I contacted ebay wanting to know how many retractions can be made by a bidder that only bids on items from that seller, & why can the same naru-ed seller, come back with another ID & sell again & still use the same shill bidder, & to think about the innocent buyers that didn't realise what was happening to them. If ebay had not sent that email to me, I would have been a victim too, as i would not of realised at the time who was bidding against me, I would of thought that another bidder [real ] wanted that gold ring also . If you need more , I can send ebays replies, & all item numbers from day one. Many thanks. RG

No longer registered, all items sold are now invalid, eBay are really hiding everything.
Makes it hard on those that are trying to follow up any recent purchases.
And their wonderful shillling detector only seems to work when members make reports. Great system?

And you are right, it definitely looks like g***l is shilling. 27 retractions and only bidding on three sellers. As a genuine seller I would be blocking them for being a nuisance.

"SuckWoof",, Yes ebay is good at hiding evidence, as in case of the first 3 ID's of the same seller, they want people to think it's a friendly safe place to shop, but with latest new ID, bee-02 , one can see the bidding & retrations of g***1. & possibly more. This is terrible what ebay allows, & where is the respect for buyers. I hope if any buyers reading this , & if they like and buy fine jewellery {used} like myself, that they check the bidding history closely & check the bottom of that page for bid retractions & by whom. If one would like to see some bidding, then check out this number ,,140346187399,, which is sold, but it shows the sellers latest ID & the bidder g***1. This is what's been occurring from the first ID of seller, to the latest. It is no wonder some buyers are being care-ful, or hesitant to bid, & some-times to pay, as this shows in ebay's forums when they ask a questions.. Ebay's great system ? um where is it ?
